This change transforms the way this Jeep tows.

Jeep Wranglers are not known to be very capable or competent towing vehicles. I found one modification you can do to your Jeep Wrangler that significantly improves its towing. Mr. Truck and I put this new Jeep Wrangler with Accuair height-adjustable air suspension to a towing test against a new Chevy Colorado midsize pickup truck. We drive them around 50 miles and do a 0-60 MPH towing vs empty comparison. Check out all the results here.

This AccuAir suspension upgrade does not by itself increase the towing capacity of the Jeep. The tow rating was 3,500 lbs before, and it’s still the same after. The towing capacity depends on a lot of parameters: engine/transmission cooling, brake system capability, suspension, and axle capability.

This 2023 Jeep Wrangler is powered by a 3.6L Pentastar V6 that is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. We are benchmarking it against a new 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss 4×4. The Colorado is powered by a 2.7L turbocharged I4 that is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This one is rated at 310 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.

While the Wrangler is rated to tow up to 3,500 lbs, the Chevy Colorado is rated up to 7,700 lbs.
